Vodafone NL to test 3G spectrum on 4G network

Vodafone Netherlands is testing the use of some of its 3G spectrum for 4G in order to boost capacity. In the southwest of Eindhoven, half of Vodafone's frequencies in the 2,100 MHz band will be used for carrier aggregation on the 4G network. Vodafone is already using the 800, 1,800 and 2,600 MHz band for LTE-Advanced in the area. Adding a fourth carrier with the 2,100 MHz band can increase theoretical speeds up to 650 Mbps. A Vodafone spokesperson said the aim is more to increase capacity for 4G services, rather than speeds. The operator plans to gradually expand the use of the 3G spectrum
