Vodafone plays down talk of Liberty Global bid - report

Vodafone has met with analysts and investors the first week of December to calm fears it could make a multi-billion dollar takeover bid for Europe's biggest cable company Liberty Global, Reuters reports. Vodafone's share price fell after reports it was considering takeover options in Britain, which could include an acquisition of Liberty, the owner of cable operator Virgin Media. Redburn analyst Nick Delfas, who attended a presentation from Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao, said in a note that he thought it would be too hard for the two sides to agree financial terms. "Vodafone is highly rational
