Vodafone Spain ordered to reimburse users for phone unlock charge

Wednesday 18 April 2018 | 09:18 CET | News
A provincial appellate court in La Coruna has ordered Vodafone Spain to reimburse users for charging them to unlock smartphones tied to a contract, reports Europa Press. The operator charged a total of 519,360 users EUR 6 (plus VAT) up to September 2013 and EUR 8 (plus VAT) after that date for the provision of a SIM unlocking code once their contract had expired, a practice that infringed Spanish consumer rules, said the court, adding that the amount must be paid back along with damages of 2 percent.
