Vodafone Spain to launch LTE services in September
Vodafone will launch 4G services based on LTE technology in Spain this month. Vodafone's 4G services will initially be available in three cities, namely Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga, Cinco Dias reports. Vodafone will initially offer 4G services to its main 30 business customers, including large corporate customers and public institutions. The company is expected to confirm the launch in an announcement on 6 September.

Vodafone Spain launches LTE pre-commercial pilot network

Vodafone Spain has launched a 4G pre-commercial pilot network, based on LTE technology, in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga. Vodafone is offering the Huawei USB Stick K5005 modem expected to enable LTE network users to access broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps for download and 50 Mbps for upload, ADSL Zone reports. As part of the first phase of the project, around 30 selected corporate customers and public institutions will be able to access Vodafone's 4G services the three cities.

Spain mobile market contracts 5.5% in Q2

Spanish mobile operators generated service revenues of EUR 3.8 billion in the second quarter, down 5.5 percent from a year earlier, but up 1.1 percent from the first quarter of 2011, according to a report from Telecompaper. Telefonica has passed the milestone of 100,000 subscribers to its fixed broadband service with speeds of 50 Mbps. Orange accelerates network investment plans in Spain

Orange has announced its fixed and mobile network investment plan in Spain. Dubbed 'Se hace el camino al andar', the project was presented at the XXV UIMP telecommunications meeting in Santander. Telefonica to launch LTE network in Spain next week - report

Telefonica Espana will officially launch its LTE network next week. The mobile broadband service will initially be available in Madrid and Barcelona, to be later expanded across the country, El Economista reports, citing anonymous company sources. According to the same sources, Telefonica has selected Huawei and ZTE for its LTE network deployment and launch. Vodafone Spain has been awarded a total of 60 MHz (2x30 MHz) of new spectrum in the tender held by the Spanish Ministry of Industry. TeleCable wins 10 MHz spectrum in Spain

Spanish regional cable operator TeleCable has won 10 MHz spectrum in the 2.6 GHz frequency band in the tender held by the Spanish Ministry of Industry. Telefonica has won 5 blocks in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 2.6 GHz frequency bands in the spectrum tender held by the Spanish Ministry of Industry.
