Vodafone starts talks on Cabovisao bid - report
Vodafone has held early talks with Altice about buying Portuguese cable operator Cabovisao. Altice is required to sell Cabaovisao and its business operator Oni in order to gain regulatory approval for its takeover of PT Portugal. Several other parties, including strategic and financial bidders, have also expressed interest in acquiring one or both of the companies, a person familiar with the situation told the Financial Times. The sale process is at an early stage and is expected to last through the summer. Altice declined to comment but said that closing the Portugal Telecom deal was not conditional on the sale. Vodafone also declined to comment.

Altice nearing deadline for Oni, Cabovisao sale

Altice stil has no sure buyer for its Portuguese operators Oni and Cabovisao, reports Diario Economico. The company is facing a deadline of 15 July to sell the two companies under the regulatory conditions imposed on its takeover of PT Portugal. If a deal does not materialize in the next two weeks, the assets may have to be separated from Altice. One of the options is to "park" the companies with a bank or a company created for the purpose, under the supervision of the antitrust authority, the paper said.

France's Altice has selected Perella Weinberg as financial advisor on the planned sale of Portuguese operators Cabovisao and Oni, reports Diário Economico. Perella Weinberg had worked with the French company on the purchase of PT Portugal. Cabovisao was purchased for EUR 45 million and Altice hopes to sell it for up to EUR 300 million. Vodafone Portugal saw its organic decline in service revenues slow somewhat in the last quarter of its fiscal year, to 3.4 percent. Altice reported a 15 percent decrease in revenues in Portugal during the first quarter of 2015, from EUR 46.1 million to EUR 39 million. The result reflects a 10 percent decline in B2C revenues and a 22 percent decline in B2B and wholesale revenue. The number of fixed lines in Portugal reached 4.6 million at the end of 2014, equal to a penetration rate of 43.9 percent of the population, the highest value since 2006. Altice is negotiating the sale of Portuguese cable operator Cabovisao with various potential buyers, one of the founders of the French company, Armando Pereira, told reporters.
