
Vodafone UK has confirmed plans to launch 5G in 19 towns and cities this year, with 12 more cities benefiting from the 5G roll-out later in 2019. These add to the seven cities where 5G is already live or switching on soon.
Alongside these seven cities, it will launch 5G in Newbury, Birkenhead, Blackpool, Wolverhampton, Warrington, Stoke-on-Trent, Southampton, Reading, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Guildford and Bournemouth during 2019.
Vodafone UK started carrying 5G traffic from a mobile network site in Salford, Greater Manchester, in October 2018. Since then, it has switched on sites in Liverpool Cardiff and Bristol. Engineers have installed 5G antennas and related equipment in London, Birmingham and Glasgow ahead of going live.
