Volvo to provide digital car keys from 2017

Volvo said it plans to to become the world's first car manufacturer to offer cars without keys from 2017. Customers will be offered an application for their mobile phones that will replace the physical key with a digital key. Volvo will use innovative Bluetooth-enabled digital key technology to create the digital key, which will be able to lock and unlocks doors of the trunk, and allow the engine to be started. Physical keys will continue to be offered for people who want them.
