VTR to offer home broadband using AWS spectrum

Monday 17 April 2017 | 10:45 CET | News
Chilean cable operator VTR, part of Liberty Global's Latin American and Caribbean group (LiLAC), is set to launch a new home broadband service on the AWS band, reports local daily La Tercera, citing CEO Guillermo Ponce. The company first obtained bandwidth in the 1700-2100 MHz spectrum in 2012 with a view to offering mobile telephony services but in 2014 reached a deal to use Movistar's network. It has now decided to boost home Wi-Fi connections by offering the new service starting at the end of April, said Ponce.
