Vueling activates on-board Wi-Fi using Inmarsat network

Thursday 24 October 2019 | 10:09 CET | News
Spanish low-cost airline Vueling has activated on-board Wi-Fi on the first 5 aircraft of its fleet after implementing European Aviation Network (EAN)-supported inflight technology offered by Inmarsat. The move is part of a wider deal announced by International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling, to equip in excess of 300 aircraft with EAN kits. Inmarsat described EAN as the first platform to integrate connectivity from a satellite, operated by Inmarsat, and a complementary LTE-based ground network, operated by Deutsche Telekom.
