W. European smartphone sales down 1% in Q2, 4G phones up 76%

Western Europe smartphone sales dipped 1 percent year on year in the second quarter, with growing demand in Italy (up 8%), France (+9%) and the UK (+4%) offset by slowdowns in Spain, Germany and other smaller countries across Western Europe, according to a report from Counterpoint. However, 4G LTE smartphone demand grew an impressive 76 percent year on year, as most brands transitioned to an all LTE portfolio and operators continued to push LTE smartphone bundles across the region.
