WannaCry has 'strong links' to Lazarus group - Symantec

The WannaCry ransomware that has been spreading globally since 12 May has "strong links" to Lazarus, a group that some experts have tied to North Korea, according to a blog post from Symantec. The cybersecurity company's latest analysis showed "substantial commonalities" between prior Lazarus attacks and WannaCry's tools and techniques, as well as network infrastructure used in the attack. That makes it "highly likely that Lazarus was behind the spread of WannaCry," said Symantec.
