WASPA says rising South African take-home pay could boost spending on apps

Thursday 16 January 2020 | 13:57 CET | News
The Wireless Application Service Providers' Association (WASPA) said that following the Competition Commission market enquiry, mobile data pricing is likely to continue to fall. WASPA chair Greg Brophy said there could be implications for app development as a solid career choice in South Africa. WASPA said spending power for apps is rising, as average take-home pay in October 2019 reached ZAR 16,000 for the first time, according to the BankservAfrica Take-home Pay Index (BTPI).
