Waymo opens up self-riding cars for testing in Phoenix

Google has opened up its self-riding cars to testing by the public in Phoenix. Waymo, its subsidiary for developing autonomous vehicles, has invited residents of Phoenix to have access to a fleet of self-driving cars for their own use. They can use the cars in an area "about twice the size of San Francisco" as part of an "early rider" trial to provide feedback on the services. Waymo said it's adding another 500 self-driving Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans to the fleet, in addition to the 100 self-driving Pacifica minivans put on public roads earlier this year.
