Western Europe smartphone shipments fall in Q3, Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo manage to shine

Smartphone shipments fell 6.5 percent year-on-year in Western Europe during the third quarter, with sales, and especially business sales, still impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns, according to a study from IDC. Shipments fell to 28.8 million, with rising consumer spend unable to offset the 11.5 percent lower sales to enterprises. 5G smartphone sales meanwhile soared 123.1 percent on a sequential basis to 3 million units, making up 10.4 percent of all smartphones sold.
