WhatsApp to add voice calls next year

WhatsApp will add voice calls to its service next year, founder Jan Koum said at the Code/Mobile conference in the US. The company is still working on certain technical obstacles to making the voice service available to all users. On some types of smartphone, WhatsApp does not have full access to the microphone, making it difficult to ensure voice quality. Koum also commented on the recent results reported by Facebook for WhatsApp, saying the company strives for a large market share as making a profit is not as important.
