Whatsapp used by 95% of German teens

Whatsapp is by far the most popular communications app among German teenagers, with around 95 percent using it regularly, a new study has found. The JIM survey by German research institute Medienpaedagogischer Forschungsverbund Südwest (MPFS) asked people aged between 12 and 19 which apps they used at least a few times per week to communicate. While Whatsapp was the clear favourite, Instagram was reportedly the second most used app, accessed by 51 percent of teenagers on a regular basis.
