Wind, Vodafone to sign Metroweb letter of intent next week

Italian operators Vodafone Italia and Wind are expected to sign a letter of intent in connection with the Metroweb operation by the end of next week, according to unnamed sources cited by business daily Milano Finanza. Vodafone Italia has already signed a non-disclosure agreement with infrastructure fund F2i over the possibility of buying a stake in fibre-optic provider Metroweb, which the government is keen to use as the vehicle for its broadband expansion strategy. Wind has previously offered the assets of its fixed-line unit Infostrada as a means of implementing the plan. The new letter of
