Windows grows market share in Europe - study

Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system is slowly gaining market share in key European countries, according to data from Kantar Worldpanel. Windows is growing particularly in the UK and Italy, where its smartphone market share has expanded to respectively 5.9 percent and 13.9 percent, versus just 2.2 percent and 2.8 percent a year ago. In the UK, Samsung remains the biggest smartphone sell, with a 35 percent share of sales in the 12 weeks to 23 December 2012. Apple was close behind with 32 percent, while Nokia took a 6.2 percent share, helped by a 50 percent annual increase in sales.
