Worldwide spend on data centres to start rebounding next year - study

Wednesday 7 October 2020 | 13:18 CET | News
Spending on data centres will recover next year after falling this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to the latest study from Gartner. Worldwide spend on data centre infrastructure is expected to rise in 2021 by 6 percent year-on-year to USD 200 billion, after a 10.3 percent decline in 2020. Levels next year will however still come under those of 2019, when spend edged 0.7 percent higher to USD 210 billion. For this year, the figure is expected to reach USD 188 billion. Growth will then continue through 2024.
