Xiaomi, Apple overtake Fitbit to lead Q1 wearables sales

Xiaomi and Apple finally surpassed Fitbit to lead the fast-growing global wearable devices market in the first three months of the year, according to the latest study from IDC. First-quarter sales surged 17.9 percent year on year to 24.7 million units, with Xiaomi edging ahead with a 14.7 percent market share compared to Apple's 14.6 percent and Fitbit's 12.3 percent. Xiaomi actually ended up losing market share in the first quarter, falling from 17.9 percent a year earlier, but became the co-leading vendor primarily thanks to the fitness tracking wristbands it ships as part of smartphone
