Xiaomi buys stake in chip designer VeriSilicon

Xiaomi has taken a stake of roughly 6 percent in Chinese chip designer VeriSilicon, in a move thought to beef up the smartphone maker's own chip development capabilities, Reuters reports. In a filing to the China Securities Regulatory Commission, VeriSilicon revealed a fund run by Xiaomi became its second-largest external shareholder in June.
