Xiaomi launches Redmi 3 smartphone in China

Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has expanded its entry-level Redmi smartphone line, with the launch of ‘Redmi 3’. The smartphone is currently available only in China fir CNY 699 (USD 107). The device features a metallic body, 4,100mAh battery and 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 also includes a 5-inch HD (720p) display, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, and hybrid dual-Sim slot, enabling users to expand storage up to 128GB via microSD card.  

The smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, as well as 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity options. The device runs Xiaomi's MIUI 7 user interface, based on the Android Lollipop OS.

Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has introduced its 'Redmi Pro' budget smartphone. The Redmi Pro is the first Xiaomi phone to feature an OLED display. KT stops Xiaomi smartphone sales in South Korea - report

South Korean fixed-line operator KT has suspended sales of Xiaomi smartphones on the local market, Yonhap news agency reports, citing unnamed industry sources. KT started selling Xaomi handsets on 4 January, with the introduction of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 via the Interpark online shopping site. According to the same sources, KT's decision is due to "legal matters related to sales".

Xiaomi sells over 1 mln phones in India in Q3

Xiaomi sold over 1 million smartphones in India in the third quarter, a record for the Chinese company. The figures were announced on Twitter by Hugo Barra, the company's international VP. He said shipments were up 45 percent from the previous quarter.
