Xiaomi takes lead over Huawei in Chinese smartphone market

Monday 3 August 2015 | 13:30 CET | News
Xiaomi regained the lead in the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter, with a 15.9 percent market share, according to Canalys estimates. However, Huawei was the fastest growing vendor in the top ten, increasing sales 48 percent sequentially and taking a 15.7 percent share of total sales. Apple fell to third place, followed by Samsung and Vivo. Overall, the Chinese market was stagnant quarter-on-quarter, the market researcher said. It expects intense competition ahead as the market matures, with Huawei focusing on profitability and Apple and Samsung expanding their channel sales.
