XL Axiata puts 7,000 towers up for sale
Indonesian mobile operator XL Axiata is seeking to sell 7,000 telecommunications towers as it wants to concentrate more on its core mobile phone business. XL is aiming to raise IDR 14 trillion with the sale, the Jakarta Globe writes citing Hasnul Suhaimi, president director of XL. XL's tower leasing business generated IDR 700 billion in revenue in 2010, 4 percent of the total revenue for the year. XL owns around 10,000 towers. The company appointed Goldman Sachs to arrange the tower sale but so far no parties have expressed interest, Hasnul said.
