Xtera awarded contract to build GigNet-1 Florida to Cancun cable

Subsea networks specialist Xtera confirmed that it has been awarded the contract to build the new GigNet-1 submarine cable system between Florida and Cancun, Mexico. The GigNet-1 cable has been developed to date by FB Submarine Partners, with Cancun-based GigNet recently announcing a Letter of Intent to acquire the cable's development, assets and operations.
