Yahoo! to cut up to 15% of workforce - report

Yahoo! is expected to announce a round of cost reductions and job cuts with its quarterly results on 02 February. The plans are expected to include the closure of several business units and a reduction of up to 15 percent of its workforce, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. Narrowing Yahoo's focus and boosting its margins may help the company's management buy time with investors and bolster its case in a possible proxy fight with Starboard Value. The latter has called for new management and a sale of some of Yahoo's business, while threatening to nominate its own
