Youfone drops OTT TV app, raises multi-play prices

Friday 2 February 2018 | 10:03 CET | News

Dutch operator Youfone announced changes to its fixed service offering, including higher prices for the double- and triple-play plans. In addition, the company stopped offering its OTT TV service for EUR 9.95 per month.

Yourfone director Valetijn Rensing told Telecompaper that the TV service was withdrawn due to rights issues. The company is considering relaunching the services in a few months.

The double- and triple-play plans previously both cost EUR 39.95 month. Going forward customers pay EUR 41.95 per month for broadband and TV and EUR 42.95 if they also want fixed telephony.

Rensing said Youfone wants to focus more on the double-play plan, given its original business of mobile services. "We're focusing more on mobile, later in combination with TV and internet, hence the price difference. It's also a bad business case for us to have a lot of fixed telephony customers who rarely make calls."

Youfone will still offer a promotional rate of EUR 19.95 per month the first six months for both plans.

Youfone launched in September 2017 its TV service, which was available both as a traditional service for the TV at home and as an app for smart devices. The app service has now been withdrawn, while customers can still get TV at home.
