YouTube to launch YouTube Red Originals on 10 Feb

YouTube will be premiering its first YouTube Red Originals on 10 February. The YouTube Red membership will now give exclusive access to new original series and movies, as well as YouTube uninterrupted and with a premium music experience. Those signing up for a YouTube Red membership now will get a free first month.

The launch will begin with "A Trip to Unicorn Island", a feature film from Astronauts Wanted with Lilly Singh, the "Dance Camp" feature film from AwesomenessTV, the "Lazer Team" feature-length action-comedy from Rooster Teeth and Fullscreen Films, and "Scare PewDiePie," a new reality-adventure series from the creator and executive producers of “The Walking Dead” at Skybound Entertainment and Maker Studios.

YouTube Red meets subscriber targets, plans expansion

YouTube Red, the subscription service for Google's video site, passed its subscriber numbers target and will reach new countries in 2017, writes online publication Tbivision.com citing YouTube global head of original content, Susanne Daniels. She was speaking at the NATPE Miami on 18 January. Japan will be added to the coverage map, and the company hopes to also bring the service to France, Germany and Spain later in 2017.

Fullscreen to launch subscription video service in April

The YouTube creative network Fullscreen is launching its own subscription video service for USD 4.99 per month. The ad-free video service will offer a blend of original and licensed content from 26 April. To start, it will have more than 800 hours of content, including feature-length movies and series and original content from online stars. Fullscreen's shareholder AT&T will market the SVOD service to its over 100 million customers and co-produce content with Fullscreen that will be distributed on DirecTV,

YouTube has announced the launch of YouTube Red Originals. The first four original series and movies are now available, exclusively for YouTube Red members. They have access to movies and shows from Lilly Singh, Rooster Teeth, PewDiePie and AwesomenessTV. YouTube users can watch short previews or sign up for a free 30-day trial YouTube Red membership.
