YouTube to offer uploaders new ways to earn money

Friday 22 June 2018 | 10:17 CET | News
YouTube has taken advantage of its appearance at VidCon to announce alternative means for creators to earn money other than through advertising. The company will allow video uploaders with more than 100,000 followers to start paid fan clubs on the service, charging a monthly recurring fee USD 4.99 in exchange for custom perks such as exclusive live streams, extra videos or shout-outs. A select group of YouTubers were already able to do this via a trial programme called Sponsorships but it has now been available to more creators.
