Ziggo merger leads to fewer customers, lower sales in Q2

Dutch cable operator Ziggo lost 87,000 revenue-generating units in the second quarter for a total 9.80 million, as churn increased following its merger with UPC and the company was hit by tough competition. Ziggo said it experienced "operational challenges" in the harmonisation of services and integration of networks, and the operator has started a programme to improve services quality. It also started a promotion this summer on Horizon TV in an attempt to turn around the customer numbers. On an organic basis, the operator's revenues fell 2.2 percent to EUR 618 million in the second quarter,
