Ziggo tests public Wi-Fi sharing on home network

Dutch cable operator Ziggo is starting a pilot in parts of Groningen to allow public access to home Wi-Fi routers used by its customers. The test will last up to five weeks with a maximum 1,200 users. All customers who agree to open up their routers to other Ziggo customers will also get shared access to the hotspot network. The company said the public and private connections will be completely separated, with no impact on the connection for the home user. A maximum 20 guests will be able to use any given hotspot at one time. Customers will need to log in just once, and then receive automatic
