Dutch operator Ziggo announced the launch of a new package of exclusive HBO content, ahead of the planned end to the HBO channels on the Dutch market on 31 December. The Ziggo Movies & Series XL package will offer the 55 channels of the 'TV Royal' plan with a wide range of films and series, including unique HBO content on-demand, such as Game of Thrones, Girls and True Detective.
The package will be included in the Ziggo Connect & Play Max subscription or sell for EUR 11.95 per month with other plans. That compares to the current cost of HBO of EUR 14.95 per month.
Ziggo said existing HBO customers will see no change in their service through year-end. The company announced earlier that HBO Netherlands, its 50-50 joint venture with the American broadcaster, has decided to stop its channels from 01 January 2017. Since then Ziggo has acquired the rights to HBO's entire catalogue for the Netherlands.
