Zimbabwean Cabinet clears broadcasting licence fee rise to enable ZBC to replace old kit

The Zimbabwean Cabinet has approved a proposal for fee adjustments for television and radio licences. Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) is using outdated equipment, which needs to be upgraded. Mutsvangwa said ZBC will soon launch two more channels and listeners' licence fees should cover 80 percent of the broadcaster's operating costs.
