ZTE plans to set up mobile phone R&D centre in India
Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer ZTE plans to open a R&D centre dedicated to mobile phones in India, The Economic Times reports. The Chinese firm did not provide details on the timeline or the expected investment for the new facility, according to the report. ZTE has 18 R&D centres across China, US and Europe. The firm spends 10 percent of its revenue from handsets on R&D. The Chinese company also said that it expects to launch six new smartphones this year in the Indian market. ZTE will price the smartphones between INR 7,000 and INR 18,000.
