ZTE aims to ship over 80 mln smartphones globally in 2015
Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer ZTE expects to ship more than 80 million smartphones globally next year and nearly 60 million this year, Reuters reports, citing ZTE's executive VP Zeng Xuezong. According to the report, the Chinese firm shipped nearly 40 million smartphones in 2013. For 2016, ZTE expects total smartphone shipments to reach about 100 million. The executive aso said that 60 percent of total smartphones to be shipped in 2015 would be handsets compatible with 4G networks.

ZTE sees better-than-expected H1 profits

ZTE has raised its estimate for first-half profit, citing better margins and growing 4G orders in its home market China. The equipment maker now expects to report a net profit of CNY 1.00-1.15 billion for the first six months of 2014, versus an estimate at its Q1 report of CNY 0.80-1.00 billion. China's smartphone shipment volume saw a 15 percent sequential decline in this year's first quarter to 89.1 million units, according to a study by Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC). ZTE plans to set up mobile phone R&D centre in India

Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer ZTE plans to open a R&D centre dedicated to mobile phones in India, The Economic Times reports.
