Alibaba to launch YunOS-powered tablet with HP, Intel

Alibaba has announced it is working with HP and Intel to launch a tablet computer running YunOS. The ‘YunOS Book’ tablet will include features targeted at the education market. Acording to YunOS officials, YunOS is now live on more than 100 million mobile devices, smart home appliances, smart TVs and a humanoid robot.

Designed as a cloud-based OS for mobile phones, YunOS launched in 2011 after three years of development by Alibaba. “We want YunOS to be the ‘go-to’ operating system for China’s smart industry”, says Aiden Yong, YunOS product director.

YunOS developers are working with more than 1,000 partners in China’s information industry; the OS now powers some 15 types of smart hardware including smartphones, connected wearable electronics such as smart watches, vehicle navigation systems, medical equipment, motion-sensing game consoles, and smart home appliances.

Alibaba Q3 revenues up 55%, led by m-commerce, video

Alibaba reported another strong set of results in Q3, with growth increasingly driven by its cloud and entertainment services. Revenue rose 55 percent year-on-year to CNY 34.29 billion (USD 5.14 billion). Gemalto to offer connectivity, security for Alibaba's YunOS

Gemalto has teamed up with Alibaba Group's YunOS to provide connectivity and security for YunOS, developed by Alibaba Group. The YunOS cloud-based, data and services oriented IoT operating system is widely integrated into IoT devices, as well as chips and sensors across industries. Under the terms of the partnership deal, Gemalto will provide its Allynis Trusted Service Hub that allows provisioning of security sensitive applications throughout the identity lifecycle management.

SoftBank to launch 'Pepper' robot business in China

SoftBank Robotics plans to launch its humanoid robot 'Pepper' in the China market. Alibaba Robot Corporation, a joint venture between Alibaba Group and SoftBank Group, will work on the robotic business in China, with plans to offer Pepper to developer customers as a service unique in China. Pepper will be powered by 'YunOS', the operating system developed by Alibaba. The new YunOS-enabled Pepper prototype will be displayed at the Alibaba Cloud 2016 Computing Conference, in Hangzhou from 13 to 16 October.

Alibaba, SAIC launch YunOS-powered internet car in China

Alibaba Group has launched an internet car for the Chinese market. The product underwent more than a year of development and testing. YunOS, Fiismart launch smartwatch with m-payment function

Chinese phone maker Meizu has introduced its MX4 smartphone running Alibaba Cloud Computing's YunOS 3.0. The device will be officially released on 11 November, Alizila reports. YunOS users do not need to download and store apps and content on their phones. Instead, they access personal information and run programs, which are stored on remote network servers, via the cloud.
