Amazon buys Blink, maker of connected cameras and doorbells
Blink, a startup specialised in battery-powered connected cameras and doorbells, said it has been acquired by Amazon. The company said it will continue to sell and support its products under the Amazon umbrella. No financial details were provided. 

Blink started out with a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 and launched smart cameras at the start of 2016, priced at USD 99-129, the Verge reported. The company introduced an outdoor camera and outdoor camera with night vision capabilities later in the year and its battery-operated connected doorbell, with built in camera, after that. Blink is currently working on a full home security system.

Amazon introduces home security camera for unattended deliveries

Amazon has introduced the Amazon Cloud Cam, an intelligent indoor security camera that works with Alexa and is priced at USD 119.99. The cam is available for under USD 100 via a two-pack deal for USD 199.99 or a three-pack deal for USD 289.99. There is also a bundle of Echo Show plus Cloud Cam for USD 299.98.The device is now available for pre-order and will start shipping to US customers on 8 November.

Google is acquiring personnel and assets from HTC, while Amazon is expanding further its range of smart home devices. The internet majors' expansion in the hardware market is driven by a number of factors: vertical integration, stimulating usage, creating new sources of revenue and more direct competition with Apple.
