
Amazon has introduced the next generation of its Fire 7 tablet as well as a new Fire 7 Kids Edition. The latest Fire tablet features a faster processor, double the storage at 16 GB or 32 GB, double the durability, and hands-free access to Alexa. Amazon’s lightest tablet costs USD 49.99 and is available in Black and three new colours, namely Sage, Plum and Twilight Blue. To mark the launch, Amazon will give USD 10 worth of credit to people buying the new device before 6 June, for use on the Amazon App store. The tablet is available for pre-order. It will start shipping on 6 June.
The tablet sports a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, support for up to 512 GB of expandable storage via microSD card, a 7 inch display, a battery life of up to 7 hours, front and rear facing cameras, Wi-Fi connectivity and a number of Amazon-exclusive features including ASAP, For You, X-Ray, Second Screen, Amazon FreeTime, Family Library, Blue Shade, On Deck and Prime Video downloads. People can use the tablet to watch movies and TV shows, listen to over 2 million songs with Prime Music, access more than 1,000 books and magazines with Prime Reading, use Amazon Photos, get 5 GB of storage for videos, documents and other files and play games with Twitch Prime.

The Fire 7 Kids Edition features a new kid-proof case with an adjustable stand for hands-free viewing, and comes in blue and pink, as well as a new purple colour option. The device can be bought for USD 99.99. As a special introductory offer, the kids tablets will come with a multi-pack option. People buying two Fire 7 Kids Edition tablets will only pay USD 149.99, 25 percent off.
The device also has a 7 inch display, faster processor and 16 GB of storage, with 512 GB more with a microSD card slot.
