America Movil receives greenlight to acquire Telekom Austria
Mexican telecoms operator America Movil has obtained all necessary regulatory approvals to acquire Telekom Austria. The Mexican company said that Austrian regulators have already approved the acquisition while competition agencies in Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia have also green-lighted the operation. 

The offer for Telekom Austria's shares has now become unconditional, and America Movil's shareholders agreement with the Austrian state takes effect. The takeover bid will remain open until 10 July for shareholders to tender their shares. 

In April, America Movil agreed to invest up to EUR 1 billion in the Austrian operator via a rights issue. Also, in May, it had offered EUR 7.15 per share for the rest of the stock not already owned by the Mexican telecoms company or its partner, Austrian state holding company OIAG.

Telekom Austria launches EUR 1 bln rights issue

Telekom Austria has launched a share issue to raise up to EUR 1 billion to strengthen its balance sheet. America Movil announced that 23.47 percent of Telekom Austria's shares were tendered in its takeover bid, raising its total stake to 50.80 percent of the operator. America Movil says Telekom Austria girds for consolidation

America Movil has formally submitted its takeover offer for Telekom Austria, reports Reuters. It has offered EUR 7.15 per share for the rest of the stock not already owned by the Mexican telecoms company or its partner, Austrian state holding company OIAG. The offer will be open for eight weeks, expiring at 17.00 hours CET on 10 July. The buy-out will cost America Movil up to USD 2 billion.
