Android reaches 700,000 devices activated each day
There are over 700,000 Android devices activated each day, according to Andy Rubin, Google's head of mobile services. He made the announcement on Google+. The company last reported 500,000 Android activations per day in late June, growing at a rate of 4.4 percent per week.

Google reports 3.7 mln Android devices activated over Xmas

Google announced that 3.7 million new Android devices were activated on 24-25 December. The news was posted by the company's mobile chief Andy Rubin on Google+. The figure is well ahead of the last figures announced by the company, of around 700,000 activations per day earlier this month. Earlier Flurry Analytics reported a total 6.8 million Android and Apple iOS devices activated on Christmas day.

Android share of Chinese handset market grows to 58%

Android phones had a 58 percent share of China's mobile handset market in Q3, growing from 16 percent a year earlier. However, Symbian OS saw its market share drop since Q3 2010 from 68 percent to 23 percent, according to research by Analysys International. The Android platform continues to grow, with over half a million devices based on the mobile OS activated each day. The milestone was tweeted by Andy Rubin, head of mobile services at Google. He said Android activations are growing 4.4 percent week over week. Google last reported the milestone of 400,000 Android activations a day in early May. The launch of numerous tablets and other devices based on the OS has helped growth accelerate.
