Apple beats Q3 expectations, forecasts strong finish to 2017

Apple reported a strong finish to its fiscal year, with revenues up 12 percent year-on-year in the September quarter to USD 52.58 billion, ahead of the company's guidance. Net profit increased 24 percent to USD 2.07 per share.

iPhone sales continued to grow, helped by the release of the iPhone 8 at the end of the quarter and price cuts on older models of the smartphone. Shipments were up 3 percent year-on-year and 14 percent from the previous quarter to 46.677 million units, and revenues rose 2 percent from the same quarter a year ago to USD 28.85 billion.
