Apple rolls out new Apple TV app, also for Samsung smart TVs

Apple has started rolling out its a new Apple TV app, which it says is already available in over 100 countries. An array of content, from shows and movies to Apple TV channels and over 150 video apps, can be watched across iPhones, iPads and Apple TV with the new app, first previewed in March by Apple.

With a free iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3 software update, customers will be able to subscribe to Apple TV channels within the new Apple TV app, paying only for the ones they want, and watch on-demand directly in the app. The app will become available for Mac in the fall, as will Apple TV+, Apple’s original video subscription service.

In the US, Apple TV channels include services such as HBO, Starz, Showtime, Smithsonian Channel, Epix, Tastemade and new services like MTV Hits. Apple said it will be adding more over time, around the world. Apple also has Family Sharing with the TV app, which means that up to six family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV channels. Subscribers can watch and download shows and movies both online and offline, including shows like “Game of Thrones”.
