Apple signs cloud music licensing agreements - report
Apple has agreed a cloud music licensing agreement with EMI Music and is close to agreeing similar deals with Sony Music Entertainment an Universal Music Group, reports CNET citing multiple, unnamed music industry sources. This follows earlier reports that Apple had agreed to a licensing deal with Warner Music Group. The licensing deals will enable the launch of a fully licensed, cloud-music service to compete with services offered by Google and Amazon. The sources said that the deals with Sony Music and Universal could be concluded as early as the week of 23 May, meaning that Apple could have contracts agreed with all four major record labels in time for the Worldwide Developers Conference, which starts on 06 June. The sources did not know when Apple would announce or launch the service.
