
There are ten different workouts types according to duration, including high intensity interval training (HIIT), strength, yoga, dance, core, cycling, treadmill (for running and walking), rowing, and mindful cooldown. The app can also recommend workouts based on preferences to date, a new trainer, new music, or a new time routine.
Fitness+ is available as a subscription for USD 9.99 per month or USD 79.99 per year in the US. The app can be shared among up to six family members for the same price. People buying an Apple Watch Series 3 or later will get the app free for three months. Existing Apple Watch users will get the app free for one month. People who bought an Apple Watch Series 3 or later at Best Buy since 15 September will get three more worth of the app for free, for a total of six months free. Best Buy customers who already own an Apple Watch Series 3 or later before 15 September and who are My Best Buy members will get an additional month free, for a total of two months free. App customers will also be able to find a selection of fitness accessories on the Apple website.
Apple Fitness+ is also included in the Apple One Premier plan, which, where available, also gives customers access to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for USD 29.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members.
Life Time will be the first health and fitness club company in the US to offer Apple Fitness+. From January, UnitedHealthcare will offer five additional months of Fitness+ at no additional cost for UnitedHealthcare Motion enrollees with Apple Watch. Following the extended trial, UnitedHealthcare Motion enrollees may be able to apply program incentives to cover the Fitness+ monthly subscription cost.
Cardio fitness notifications
Apple also announced that cardio fitness notifications are now also available on Apple Watch. Users with iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2 can view their cardio fitness level in the Health app on iPhone, and receive notifications on their Apple Watch if it falls within the low range. The system uses sensors to measure cardiorespiratory fitness, including an optical heart sensor, GPS and accelerometer.
