Apple suffers maps problems with iOS 6 launch

Apple has said it will work on improving its new maps application on iOS 6, after complaints from users of numerous inaccuracies and reduced features compared to Google Maps. Apple replaced Google on the latest version of iOS, using its own application based on mapping data from TomTom, and the new software started rolling out this week to customers. The company told All Things D that Maps will improve as more users access it and provide feedback. Apple said it's also working with third-party developers to integrate features of their iOS transit apps, as the current service does not offer public transport information. The company added: "We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better." Google Maps is still available through the web browser on iOS, and Google is working on a Maps app for the Apple system. A source familiar with the matter told TechCrunch that Google sees Apple's problems as an opportunity and is hoping to have the iOS app out by Christmas.
