Apple has confirmed that the App Store will launch in 20 new countries this year, with developers asked to update their information by 10 April to ensure their apps appear in the new locations. The company’s app marketplace is currently available in 155 countries or regions worldwide and will be rolled out in the new countries “this year”, said Apple in a post on its developer site, without further specifying dates.

According to the company’s updated developer agreement, the new countries are Afghanistan, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Georgia, Maldives, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Iraq, Kosovo, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nauru, Rwanda, Tonga, Vanuatu and Zambia.

Apple added that the platform has helped generate over USD 155 billion in developer earnings from sales of apps and in-app purchases since its 2008 launch.
