Apple's App Store expands to 175 countries, Apple Music to 167
Apple said its App Store, Apple Arcade, Apple Podcasts, and iCloud services are now available in 20 more countries, with Apple Music available in 52 additional countries. This means the App Store is now present in 175 countries and regions around the world, while Apple Music is available in 167 countries and regions. All new Apple Music subscribers can benefit from a six-month free trial.

The App Store, Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and iCloud are now available in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, the Congo, Gabon, Libya, Morocco, Rwanda, and Zambia in Africa; in the Maldives and Myanmar in Asia-Pacific; in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia in Europe; in Afghanistan (excluding Apple Music) and Iraq in the Middle East; and in Nauru (excluding Apple Music), Tonga, and Vanuatu in Oceania. 

Apple Music has expanded to Algeria, Angola, Benin, Chad, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, the Congo, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Tunisia in Africa; Bhutan in Asia-Pacific; Croatia, Iceland, and North Macedonia in Europe; the Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Turks and Caicos, and Uruguay in Latin America and the Caribbean; in Kuwait, Qatar, and Yemen in the Middle East; and in the Solomon Islands in Oceania.

Seychellois patents translation messaging app Know What I Mean for 60 languages, plans to add creole option

A Seychellois has launched a new translation messaging application and is working to add the Seychelles Creole language as an option, Seychelles News Agency reported. Neil Gonthier said he got the idea when he was studying in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, where students with different languages were having difficulty communicating. The app called 'Know What I Mean' or KWIM for short can translate up to 60 languages and is available for download for both iPhone and Android users.

Apple unveils family credit card, podcast subscriptions

Apple has unveiled Apple Card Family, a new credit card designed for shared use. Two people can co-own the titanium card, with the possibility of sharing and merging their credit lines. When sharing the card with children (as participants), parents can add optional spending limits and controls. Apple said the aim is to make it easy to track spending, on the iPhone, with one single monthly bill.

Apple faces EU competition investigations into App Store, Apple Pay

The EU has launched formal antitrust investigations into Apple's App Store and Apple Pay systems. The European Commission said it's concerned that Apple's proprietary payment systems may be limiting competition in the market for respectively digital music and ebooks, and mobile payment services. In both cases, the company appears to be favouring its own services over third-party services on iOS devices.

Seychelles govt plans per-second billing for mobile calls from 2021

The Seychelles government is drafting a new regulation to charge mobile users for the actual duration of a call, Seychelles News Agency reported. Benjamin Choppy, the principal secretary at the Department of ICT, said operators are currently charging calls by the minute, even if they only last a few seconds. A prepaid call costs almost SCR 4 on average per minute, though there are variations depending on the package and if it is at peak or off-peak time.

Apple to extend App Store to another 20 countries this year

Apple has confirmed that the App Store will launch in 20 new countries this year, with developers asked to update their information by 10 April to ensure their apps appear in the new locations.
