Archos offers over 10,000 Android apps at AppsLib

French internet tablet maker Archos now has over 10,000 Android apps at its AppsLib store and has around 40 partners, Les Echos reports. Company founder and CEO Henri Crohas announced that Archos expects to have sold 1 million Android tablets worldwide since it launched the products in September. The company had revenue up 23 percent to EUR 17.2 million in the third quarter, compared to EUR 14 million in the year-earlier period. The fastest growth was in Asia, up 59 percent to EUR 700,000, but the bulk of Archos's sales were generated in Europe, up 22 percent to EUR 13.8 percent. The US market accounted for EUR 2.7 million of revenue, up 18 percent on the third quarter of last year. The group experienced its fourth consecutive quarter of growth, with a balanced product mix between MP3 and internet tablets. According to Les Echos, Archos plans to launch its own set-top box in 2011 to enter the connected TV market. Similar to the box used for Apple TV or the Revue model developed by Logitech for Google TV, Archos's device will allow users to access the internet and audiovisual content on their TVs. In a more distant future, the company plans to launch tablets featuring movement detection technology and 3D without glasses.
