
Telefonica has announced the appointment of Camilo Aya Caro as the new president and CEO of Telefonica Movistar Mexico, replacing Carlos Morales Paulin who is leaving the operator after 17 years, including six years at the helm of the Mexican unit. A Colombian national, Aya Caro has been tasked with consolidating and accelerating the company's recent growth in the highly competitive Mexican communications market.
He has been with the Telefonica group since 2003, most recently as B2C marketing director for the Colombian unit. He also oversaw the commercial launch of the 4G network as well as new fibre-optic and IPTV services in the Andean country.
