Berlelsmann mulls sale of M6 - report

German media company Bertelsmann is considering selling its controlling 48 percent stake in French broadcasting group M6, Reuters reports. The company has already approached potential bidders including Vivendi and Altice Europe, the report added. M6, which is controlled by Bertelsmann through RTL Group, could fetch a valuation of EUR 3 billion.

RTL said in a statement that “there is a strong case for consolidation in the European broadcasting sector". The group said it constantly reviews options for transactions, but there is no certainty this will lead to any kind of deal.

Bertelsmann has also approached TF1 Group, Mediaset and Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, the report said. The rest of M6's shares are listed on the stock market in Paris.
